Christmas 2014 for my husband and I was spent in the snowy Canadian Rockies. We first visited here in Christmas 2013 and had such an amazing time we knew we had to do everything we could to return.
I know all over the world people have different opinions of what their ideal Christmas is. For some this is lying on a beach, and for some, like me, the dream Christmas would be a cold and white one. The funny thing is that growing up I don’t ever remember it snowing at Christmas, but it was certainly cold and frosty. However as I grew older, and I suppose you could say global warming took effect, Christmas became milder and wetter, and to me felt less and less like the dream.
So my husband is always nagging me to go away at Christmas, of which in 2013 I finally gave in, on one condition that I could choose where we went. I spent weeks investigating places and settled on Banff in Canada. To say the least my hubby was a bit shocked, I’m sure he expected the sun and golden sands, but his face dropped and said that I must have picked one of the coldest places on earth 🙂 I immediately thought he was going to hate it, but in fact it was the total opposite, we had an absolute blast and knew we had to go back.
To give you a taster, the following images are taken from our hotel window and are the first views that we got of Banff. Image number one was taken on 23/12/13 and the second was taken on 20/12/14.
We stayed in the same hotel on both visits, simply because we couldn’t fault it, more of this in my next post.
There was noticeably less snow in our latest visit compared to 2013, but still we had an amazing time in this very beautiful corner of the world.
Thankyou for spending the time to read my post, have a wonderful day and please come back soon.
